Online Assessment Services (Adults Only)
I have a strong commitment to both neurodiversity and LGBTQ+ inclusivity. Autistic/ADHD’s are important, legitimate, and valuable people that contribute immensely to our communities and world in general. Based on this perspective, my approach towards assessing autism/ADHD in adults is described as ‘refreshing’, ‘empowering’, and ‘informed’ by an understanding of what it feels like to exist in the world as a neurodivergent person.
My approach embraces neurodiversity and progressiveness. I believe that terms like 'diagnosis' don't fully capture the positive autistic/ADHD experience, and that celebrating and including, the strengths and differences of each unique autistic/ADHDr is imperative. My assessments cover in detail, your personal and unique narrative and experiences of the world as seen through your eyes, and include a personal account of your needs and abilities.
My assessment of your neurodivergent identity is based on your active involvement, collaboration and meaningful contribution, and considers your unique requirements. I also support LGBTQIA+ inclusivity and have experience working and collaborating with gender-diverse autistic/ADHD adults from all walks of life. I welcome and encourage you to attend sessions with your support person(s) or anyone who makes you feel safe, supported, and cared about. If you prefer to attend on your own, that is okay too.
I bring over 16 years of lived and clinical experience working with neurodivergent identities from all walks of life, and while I follow best practice and evidence-based ‘guidelines set out by th 'National guidelines for the assessment and diagnoses of autism in Australia’, my reports also provide detailed information about how to best support you on your journey. Detailed recommendations, are also provided to you to assist you in understanding your Autistic/ADHD identity, unique brain-style and sensory needs. Here is a summary of my assessment process to better understand how sessions are set up and the cost involved: Step 1 - General Pre-assessment and screeners- initial consultation 1.5 hours ($280) The first step is an initial clinical assessment to determine the presence and/or absence of other broad clinical circumstances and/or co-occuring mental health conditions that may be present. Other family members, partners or a nominated friend may also be interviewed and consulted with your consent. Given that Autistic/ADHD's often present with additional co-occuring mental health conditions (i.e. such as Complex Trauma, Depression, Social anxiety, OCD etc), and that these can often resemble Autistic/ADHD traits, a differential assessment is critical to accurately identifying Autism and ADHD. On booking this first appointment, assessment consent forms and questionnaires are completed and returned to me, via email before our first appointment. During the initial consultation, questions such as immediate concerns and daily experiences, (past and current) may be explored as well as other questions relating to the query of Autism/ADHD. Broader questions around your history, mood, behaviours, development, supports, coping and mental health experiences may also be asked during this initial consultation. A Medicare rebate may be available ($137.50) towards the session fee for this initial appointment. Your GP will determine eligibility for a Mental Health Care Plan for Psychology Services.
